• Height/Spread: grows to 21 - 30ft tall by 20 25ft wide.
• Flower: blooms on naked braches in April/May and are rosy-pink.
• Foliage: very striking purple foliage, which fades somewhat to a purple/green through the summer.
• Shape: naturally the plant wants to grow as a multi-trunk form (which makes a nicer tree). It has an irregular growth habit when young, but forms a graceful, flat-topped, vase shape as it ages.
• Soils: medium, well-drained soils.
• Hardiness: zone 5 - 9.
• Comments: one of the first varieties to be names. Has been around many years.
